Whichever way you choose to arrive, take it easy as you pull straight up to Xcaret following a scenic drive to the southern edge of Playa del Carmen in Mexico's Riviera Maya.

As soon as you step out into the sun and walk to the park’s main entrance, the Mayan jungle will greet you with its verdant scenery and delightful breeze. Once you scan your Xcaret tickets and enter, say hello to the park’s signature macaws and friendly flamingos who will welcome you into their home, giving you an inkling of the exciting eco-adventure you’re about to enjoy.

The Mexico Espectacular show also features performances representing each region of Mexico, such as the Papantla Flyers from Veracruz state, the Revolution-era singers of the North of Mexico, the Old Men’s Dance from Michoacan state, the Mariachi musicians and lasso performances from Jalisco state, and of course the Jarana dance from the local Yucatan Peninsula area.

Xcaret’s in season, for good reason

In addition, you can enjoy some of Xcaret’s seasonal celebrations if you come on certain dates. In May, experience the magic of the Sacred Mayan Journey (Travesia Sagrada Maya), a 500-year old tradition where 400 men and women dressed in traditional Mayan attire cross the Caribbean Sea by rowing traditional canoes from the shores of Xcaret to the island of Cozumel. The participants train for 6 months to prepare for this journey, which is a way to pay homage to Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of fertility.

Also, between October 30 and November 2, the Riviera Maya park dresses in marigold flowers and incense for its beautiful Festival of Life and Death to celebrate Mexico’s Day of the Dead. Go to the park’s theaters and stages to admire various dance representations and artistic performances.
